Starting in graphic design requires both technical skills and visual judgement. Knowing software is not enough: learn to organise information and create visuals suited to their purpose.
1. Understand composition
Use grids, alignment, margins and spacing to create structure.
2. Work on typography
Limit fonts and create a clear hierarchy.
3. Use colour intentionally
A concise coherent palette improves recognition.
4. Prepare images correctly
Consider resolution, cropping, rights and export formats.
5. Build a portfolio
Posters, social posts, flyers and simple identities demonstrate progress.
